Panagiotis Christofides, Professor and Department Chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and holder of the William D. Van Vorst Chair in Chemical Engineering Education, has been elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Fellow is AIChE’s highest grade of membership and is awarded to members in recognition of significant professional accomplishments and contributions in engineering over a sustained period of time (typically twenty-five years). Election to the grade of Fellow is highly selective as only about 2% of the total AIChE membership has currently reached this grade. Professor Christofides was recognized for his pioneering contributions to nonlinear process control and for his extensive service to the Chemical Engineering and Automatic Control communities.
